Paper 1 – Computer Based Test (CBT)

  • Duration: 2 Hours

  • Sectional Timing: 30 minutes per section

  • Negative Marking: 0.25 marks deducted for each wrong answer

Male Candidates

Chest (Male Only)

  • 80 cm (Unexpanded)

  • 85 cm (Expanded)

Relaxations are applicable as per SSC rules.

Physical Endurance Test (PET)

Male Candidates

  • 100m race in 16 seconds

  • 1.6 km race in 6.5 minutes

  • Long Jump: 3.65m (3 chances)

  • High Jump: 1.2m (3 chances)

  • Shot Put (16 lbs): 4.5m (3 chances)

Female Candidates

  • 100m race in 18 seconds

  • 800m race in 4 minutes

  • Long Jump: 2.7m (3 chances)

  • High Jump: 0.9m (3 chances)

Begin endurance and sprint training at least 4–5 months before PET.

Medical Examination

Candidates must be physically and mentally fit.

Eyesight Requirements

  • Distant Vision: 6/6 (better eye) and 6/9 (worse eye), uncorrected

  • No glasses allowed

  • No knock knees, flat foot, varicose vein, or squint

Medical fitness is mandatory for final selection.

Get a pre-medical fitness check done before appearing for DME.

The selection process follows:

Final merit is based only on combined marks of Paper 1 and Paper 2. PST/PET and Medical tests are qualifying in nature.
