SSC GD Constable Syllabus 2026 – Check Physical & Medical, Written Exam Pattern

The Staff Selection Commission conducts the SSC GD Constable examination for recruitment of Constables in forces like CRPF, BSF, CISF, ITBP, SSB, NIA, SSF, and Rifleman in Assam Rifles. Candidates preparing for SSC GD 2026 must clearly understand the updated written exam pattern, physical standards, and medical requirements before starting preparation.

As per the latest structure (based on the 2025 cycle), the SSC GD Constable exam follows a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format followed by PET, PST, Medical Examination, and Document Verification.

SSC GD Constable 2026 Selection Process

The recruitment process consists of:

  • Computer-Based Written Examination (CBT)

  • Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

  • Physical Standard Test (PST)

  • Detailed Medical Examination (DME) / Review Medical Examination (RME)

SSC GD Constable 2026 Written Exam Pattern

The written exam is conducted online in objective format. It is based on the 10th standard level.

Exam Overview

  • Total Questions: 80 (Objective Type)

  • Total Marks: 160

  • Duration: 60 Minutes

  • Sections: 4 Parts (20 Questions Each)

  • Marks Per Section: 40

  • Negative Marking: 0.25 marks deducted for each wrong answer

Each correct answer carries 2 marks.

Since there is negative marking, avoid guesswork and attempt only well-prepared questions.

There is no sectional cut-off; however, candidates must score above the overall category-wise cut-off.

Practice full-length mock tests to improve time management within 60 minutes.

Questions are of matriculation level.

Choose your strongest language option and practice daily grammar exercises.

SSC GD Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

Candidates qualifying the written exam are called for PET.

For Male Candidates:

  • 5 km race in 24 minutes

  • Ladakh Region: 1.6 km in 6.5 minutes

For Female Candidates:

  • 1.6 km race in 8 minutes

  • Ladakh Region: 800 meters in 4 minutes

Note: Pregnant female candidates are not allowed to participate in PET.

Start daily running practice at least 3 months before PET.

SSC GD Physical Standard Test (PST)

Height Requirement

  • Male: 170 cm

  • Female: 157 cm
    (Relaxation applicable for ST and specified regions.)

Chest (Male Only)

  • 80 cm (Unexpanded)

  • Minimum 5 cm Expansion
    (Relaxations available for ST and specific regions.)

Weight must be proportionate to height and age as per medical standards.

Check official notification for category-wise height relaxations before applying.

SSC GD Medical Examination

Candidates who qualify PET/PST undergo Detailed Medical Examination (DME).

Medical board checks:

  • Vision (No visual correction allowed)

  • Physical fitness

  • Color vision (Ishihara test CP-III)

  • Overall health condition

Binocular vision is mandatory.

Maintain physical fitness and avoid medical disqualification by ensuring proper health before DME.

SSC GD Constable 2026 Final Selection

Final merit is prepared category-wise and state-wise based on written exam marks. Allocation of force is done by MHA/CRPF as per merit and preference.

Minimum qualifying marks generally:

  • General & Ex-Servicemen: 35%

  • SC/ST/OBC: 33%
