(a) A citizen of India, or
(b) A subject of Nepal, or
(c) A subject of Bhutan, or
(d) A Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January 1962, or
(e) A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or the East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

What is the SSC CHSL education qualification?
Individual candidates must satisfy the educational qualifications for each and every post. The Commission can disqualify candidates at any point in the hiring process if they don’t meet the required EQ. Note: All candidates who are eligible to appear at the typing test or skill test will be required to show the relevant certificate in its original form, such as mark sheets, provisional certificates, etc., as proof of having the minimum educational qualification. If candidates cannot provide these documents, then the result of such candidates will be canceled by the Commission. What is the SSC 10+2 eligibility criteria for the skill/typing test?
The candidates who have qualified for both the Tier 1 and Tier 2 exams separately would be eligible to appear for the skill/typing test as per the requirement of the post. The Tier 3 exam is for said paper examination; it will be only qualifying in nature. The candidates must obtain the minimum required marks as fixed by the commission for the skill/typing test only. The candidates must meet the minimum age limit for SSC 10+2 and have their educational qualifications updated.
SSC CHSL Skill Test for Data Entry Operator (DEO):
i.) Data entry speed of 8,000 (eight thousand) key depressions per hour on computer.
ii.) For the post of Data Entry Operator in the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG): – A speed Test of not less than 15000 key depressions per hour for data entry work to be ascertained through speed test on a computer
Note:-
- The skill test for DEO is of a qualifying nature and is to be conducted on computeSSC will specify the duration and exact detailsSSC in the official notification.
- It will only be qualifying in nature.
- After qualifying for Tier-I, II, and the skill test, the candidates will undergo detailed document verification, as mentioned in the SSC CHSL Eligibility Criteria 2025.

Typing Test for LDC/JSA and Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant: The SSC CHSL Typing Test Qualification Exam will also be conducted only for candidates who have qualified for the Tier-I and Tier-II exams. The following pattern will be used for the typing test:
Typing Speed for English: 35 words per minute
Typing Speed for Hindi: 30 words per minute
Typing speed requirement: 35 words per minute (English) ≈ 10,500 key depressions per hour; 30 words per minute (Hindi) ≈ 9,000 key depressions per hour.
Note:-
- Such tests will be conducted in English or Hindi, and candidates applied for the medium in the application form.
- The typing test will be based on a computer, and it will be only qualifying in nature.
- If a candidate does not choose a medium for the typing test in the application form, the English medium will be considered the default.
